Original Press Release:

On May 9, 2009 at approximately 2pm, 9-1-1 Dispatch received a report of an armed robbery at the La Pine Liquor Store.  Deschutes County Sheriff's Office deputies were on scene in minutes and established a perimeter around the area with the help of the Oregon State Police and the Sunriver Police Department.  Two Deschutes County Sheriff's Office K9 Units: K9 Mika and K9 Duco, responded to the scene and attempted to track the suspect.

Deschutes County Sheriff's Office detectives also responded and joined the investigation within  approximately 30 minutes.  The initial investigation indicates that the male suspect was armed with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot.  Witnesses reported that a bicycle may have been used in the armed suspect's getaway.  The Sheriff's Office conducted a search of the area for nearly two hours but did not locate the suspect.

At this time the Sheriff's Office has no reason to believe that the suspect is still at large in the immediate area and we have no reason to believe that he is an immediate threat to residents.  The suspect should not be approached as he is considered armed and dangerous.
