BMC Moving & Expanding in Redmond

10/12/09 Redmond

By spring, Bend Memorial Clinic will have a new, larger location in Redmond housing more doctors and offering more services.  The new services will include a primary care core of Family Medicine and Urgent Care, supported by imaging services such as CT, X-ray and ultrasound and laboratory in-house.  BMC specialty services including Cardiology and Allergy will also be added.  Right now many folks make the drive to Bend for those services.

"During the winter months we do get feedback from Redmond patients who often have to cancel their appointments because they can't make the drive from Redmond to Bend," says Lesley Camire with BMC.

BMC will go from eight doctors at its current redmond location to about twenty.  That will create about fifteen jobs in supporting nurses and staff.   the new bypass has made it difficult for folks to access its current location which is one reason they selected the building on SW Veterans way near Fred Meyer.  Many are hoping BMC's move will jump start economic development.

"I think it's a prime location and I think it'll really help kind of set a stage for development of the shopping area that's right there," says Eric Sande, Executive Director of Redmond's Chamber of Commerce.

BMC has also seen a growing need among its aging population.

"One of the services we feel we really need to expand to Redmond is the service of Medicare patients whether it be primary or specialized care for Medicare," says Camire.

The new BMC location should be open by March.
