A sheriff's son allegedly fires a gun in Culver neighborhood, starting a police standoff and forcing the evacuation of surrounding homes. It started on Friday night, neighbors say they heard screaming from this house around ten thirty. Then, the sound of five to six gunshots. Inside, Nick Jones, the son of Jefferson County Sheriff Jack Jones. Oregon State Police, Madras Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office all responded blocking off the neighborhood and surrounding the house with guns drawn. Right next door, Liz Littledeer and Ranae Trimbl could hear the negotiator trying to talk Jones out of the house.

"He was really good about being real with him and reminding him what's valuable in his life. It sounded like it was going to come to an end but it was shortly after that, that OSP came to our door and asked us to evactuate," said Littledeer.

Things did end peacefully and with no arrests or injuries. Jones was taken for a mental evaluation. Neighbors were allowed to return to their homes around one thirty Saturday morning.

Culver Drama

Small Town, Small People.......

How much longer?

I'm tired of this family being allowed to terrorize my community. First his mother steals thousands of dollars from the city and serves next to no jail time. Now Nick gets to shoot up the neighborhood and endanger my friends and family. I hope they lock him up and throw away the key.
