NEWPORT, Ore. -- Authorities say about 30 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled into Yaquina Bay as a wooden fishing boat sank.

The bay is a prized wildlife habitat and houses the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Cleanup workers put booms around the spill Sunday, and the U.S. Coast Guard is working with local cleanup contractors to remove as much of the fuel as possible, including any still aboard the boat.

Authorities say the 65-foot Helen McColl was moored when it sank.
