ASHLAND, Ore. - Ashland voters have one more day to decide if they will renew the city's food and beverage tax.

At last report, turnout for the Special Election is about 35-percent.

A simple majority is needed to renew the city's 5-percent meals tax. The tax funds Ashland's waste water treatment plant. If the tax is defeated, the city could increase sewer rates by about 50-percent.

"It should be more broad based. It shouldn't be placed upon one segment of our community, i.e. the restaurants, which singles out our industry as opposed to others," Giseppi's Pizzeria Owner John Wallace said.

It is too late to mail in your ballot. You can drop it off at the Jackson County Election's Office or the Ashland Library. They are due by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
