MEDFORD, Ore. - A North Medford graduate stationed in Fort Hood helped treat victims of Thursday's shooting rampage, according to his family.

Specialist Matthew Wellington is a 2005 graduate of North Medford High School. Following a 15 month deployment to Iraq as a combat medic, he now resides at Fort Hood, working in a family medicine residence center.

The clinic was designated as the trauma treatment center for the second most severely injured patients in the shooting. The clinic saw about 10 victims, every one of which survived.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates declared a moment of silence for U.S. Military forces worldwide at exactly 11:34 a.m. Friday morning, exactly 24 hours after the shooting.
