ASHLAND, Ore. -- The third annual Food and Wine Classic began Friday night in Ashland.

The event will run through Sunday.

Representatives from the Ashland Chamber of Commerce say they've sold a large number of tickets to people traveling from out of state.

"Over the course of a year about 60 percent of our visitors are from Northern California. And that same rings true here. Folks have ordered tickets all the way from Redding down to LA and are coming here," Ashland Chamber of Commerce Katharine Flanagan said.

The event will feature a competition between chefs in the area. There are also workshops like sushi rolling and wine education.

Also beginning tonight was First Friday, which showcases Ashland art. Saturday is the Ashland Growers and Crafters Market.
