Democratic candidate for governor, John Kitzhaber, made a stop in Bend Wednesday. He held a jobs and economy roundtable with local businesses. He took away from it Central Oregon's concerns about job creation and the desire to have the public sector be a partner in facilitating economic growth. He listened to their frustrations about the process involved with designating additional industrial land and their concerns with the ability to provide a solid education system. "We have a real opportunity embedded in the financial crisis to rethink the scope and size of our public sector.  Hopefully it will become a part of the private sector to get Oregon through this difficult period we're in," said Kitzhaber.

Kitzhaber is a former two-term governor. He says his priorities as governor are to get the public back to work and stabalize the state's funding.
