They came in droves, on bikes, cars, and RVs.
But 75-year-old Raymond Terwilliger came on his one cylinder 1955 BMW motorcylce all the way from Upstate New York.
He looks for the road less traveled. "Actually I try to find roads without paint on them, but it's hard to do."
He says having only one cylinder slowed him down when conditions weren't just right. "Out west when I hit these terrible head winds, and going uphill. I was pulling some of these hills at about 28mph."
Not only has Raymond traveld from New York state to Oregon on a one cylinder motorcycle, he's also recently survived colon cancer.
"Seven weeks ago today they took 15 inches of my colon out. But I feel great."
He says you have to smell the roses if you really want to travel. "Guys that went by me on this trip, they were running 80 to 90mph. They didn't see a thing. All they did was white knuckle their bike and bragged of how quick they got there. That's not traveling!"
When asked how long he would keep up riding his bike, he answered, "Hopefully until I die!"
