DESCHUTES and JEFFERSON COUNTIES, Ore. -- Low-income families in Jefferson County and Deschutes County school districts can apply for free food benefits for their children to receive during summer break.

Space is limited and participating families will be selected at random.

Families who received forms for the program must turn them in by Feb. 29. Those selected will be notified in April.

Those who aren't selected for the program can still get meals for their kids at a local summer food program site.
