Oregon Republicans Help Hurricane Victims

09/03/08 St. Paul

Oregon delegates took time to help others at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul Wednesday.  Hurricane Gustav cast a shadow on this convention.  Wednesday, Oregon delegates joined other Republicans to help those affected by the storm.

"We've created 80,000 relief packages to be sent down south to people who are in shelters," says Amy Reilly of Target.

"This is the kind of thing Republicans do for their communities.  We pull together and we remember that we're Americans first, to quote Cindy McCain and we're pulling together for the people of the Gulf Coast." Says Oregon Delegate Greg Leo.

The kits will begin arriving in the Gulf Coast around the same time Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin takes the stage.

"I think she's a dynamic person.  I think she's just the person we need and if there was ever a woman that is going to be vice president, Sarah Palin is it." says Oregon Republican Joyce Waggoner.

"You know, a mother of five, pro-life, pro-gun, it's really an amazing choice." Says Oregon Delegate Jeff Grossman.
