On January 6, around 2:30 am, officers from the Bend Police Department responded to O.B. Riley Road and Roper Lane regarding a hit and run motor vehicle crash. When officers arrived they discovered a red 2004 Volvo S40 sedan had left the roadway and struck a Pacific Power and Light power pole, a Quest phone junction box, two mail boxes and a wood fence.

The Volvo had significant front and rear end damage, and the driver of the vehicle was not at the scene when officers arrived. The Pacific Power and Light power pole was complete sheered off at the base, and the Quest phone junction box was destroyed. Power was temporarily interrupted when the power pole was replaced.
The owner of the Volvo, 26 year old, Keven Daniel Bennett, was contacted at his residence and determined to be the driver of the vehicle when the crash took place. Bennett received a minor head laceration and was treated at St. Charles Medical Center after he was taken into custody.
