CRIMESTOPPERS- Searching for Stolen Items

04/23/09 Deschutes County

Two people have been arrested for a burglary that happened in the Tetherow Crossing neighborhood in Redmond two weeks ago. 19 year old Steven Allen Stahl and a juvenile were arrested last week.

At the gated community off Homestead Way Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Detectives are calling the burglary a crime of opportunity. "There was a myriad of personal property stolen, there were some checkbooks stolen, as I mentioned an ATV, a motorcycle, some tools, and collector coins, there may be other items the victim has yet to identify," said Sgt. Mike Espinoza with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives say a crime spree had taken place, this burglary came right after a vehicle was stolen from the Redmond area. Through the investigation, Stahl was named a person of interest. "We began getting several pieces of information stating that some checks that belonged to the victim of the residence were being cashed and or being put into bank accounts and that began leading us to the Jackson County area," said Sgt. Espinoza.

Stahl and the juvenile were arrested in Jackson County during a traffic stop in the stolen vehicle. Slowly the stolen items from Deschutes County are being recovered, but still missing, a black and red Honda dirt bike and white Suzuki ATV with purple bumpers. Detectives believe the bikes have been taken to BLM land between NW 66th and Lower Bridge Way near Terrebonne. Detectives say Stahl has no know ties to Central Oregon, they believe he was with the juvenile and others who live in the area. They say there could be other people involved in the burglary who haven't yet been identified and they need your help.
