CRIMESTOPPERS: Attempted Arson

05/08/09 Bend

A close call for a Bend business Friday morning after a man is caught pouring gasoline on a nearby shed with a trail leading to its store.  Surveillance video shows the arson suspect.  It happened around 4:20 a.m. at the "Imagine That" adult store on 3rd Street.  A man poured gas all over the walls and floor of an attached storage shed.  A custodian spotted it happening.

"I came out to have a cigarette and I saw a guy out back where our back fence is and yelled at him, I asked him what he was doing and he dropped the bag and took off running. I found a gas can full of gas and then I found where he poured gas on the fence and all the way to our back door," says Tim Moody.

Bend police K-9 units weren't able to find the man.  He's described as 5'6", 160 pounds, wearing a green jacket and tan pants.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.  Call Crimestoppers at 1-800-3-Detect or 1-800-333-8328.  You can remain anonymous.
