Car Crashes Into Liquor Store

06/30/09 Redmond

A big surprise for a brand new Redmond business Tuesday afternoon when a car plows into its store front.  It happened at the Oregon Liquor Control Commission's liquor store off Odom Meadow in Redmond.  Around 3pm, an 86 year old man hit the gas, thinking his car was in reverse.  It was actually in drive and the vehicle slammed into the business. The crash broke three big pains of glass, fortunately no one was hurt.

"He went through our vodka, tequila, and it looks like the Canadian stopped him.  It just shocked me.  You know, one minute I'm just sitting there, the next minute I'm bouncing off the wall.  It kind of through me off," said Todd Layport.

The store, which just opened last week, has since boarded up, but remains open.  Managers say they'll get new glass up Wednesday morning.
