In this ‘You Ask, We Answer' Jeremy in Bend asks, "How much does it cost the city to clean up (if they do it). Who is suppose to clean up the pile of fireworks that are left on the streets every year, and if the city will be cleaning it up, like in the past, where will the money come from?"
Anyone using fireworks is responsible for the clean up. However, due to irresponsible people, the city is forced to sweep the streets. Normally, the city would do this on July 4th, but due to budget issues and the fact that the 5th falls on a Sunday, the city will wait until Monday to remove debris. Depending on how much there is, it can take anywhere from a day to a week.
The Bend Fire Department generally cleans up debris on Pilot Butte left by the professional fireworks.

Pilot Butte fireworks debris clean up
The Bend Fire Dept, Oregon Dept of Forestry, Oregon Parks and US Forest Service all provide the superior fire protection for the display on the butte, its the Boy Scouts that provide the wonderful community service and conduct the clean up. The fireworks contractor conducts the the clean up around the very top where all of the equipment is setup for the firing. I'd also like to mention many walkers that enjoy the display also take garbage sacks or bring their own bags to pick up debris on their walk up. Hope this provides a correction to your answer. The fireworks contractor hauls away the garbage the young women and men in the scouting program pick up. I'll assure you its much more than just fireworks debris they collect, broken bottles, shoes, fast food trash, and many other items tossed out in the park.
