You Ask; We Answer

10/30/09 Bend

In this ‘You ask; We answer,' Jennifer asks, "I was wondering why the Bend Park and Rec stopped having the ghost train at Shevlin Park on Halloween? When I was a kid we would have so much fun!! I wish they would start it back up again."

It stopped when the trains began to break down and the Bend Parks and Recreation District couldn't afford to fix them. Instead, the district has put its resources into the pumpkin festival. which is more family friendly and better represents the Parks District.

"The ghost train was really for older teens and adults and had spookier scenes and there were a lot more people doing that kind of activity then, but not as many for the young families," says Sue Jorgenson, Recreation Enrichment Manager.

The ghost train stopped running in 1994. There are no plans to bring it back.
