Business Banner Controversy

10/29/07 Redmond  Redmond police cited four businesses for hanging temporary banners.  The banners were in violation of city code which is only four months old.  It allows businesses to hang a temporary banner for 60 days with a permit.

B&D Auto Glass was one of the businesses cited.  The owners hung a banner letting people know they were open for business despite major road construction going on around their business.

The city says the code is needed to set standards and keep Redmond beautiful.   Businesses can convert the temporary sign into a permenant one by adding a frame and getting a permit.
