Those who knew 50-year-old Keith Moon of Bend say they will always remember how compassionate he was. Reverend Steven Koski worked with Moon at the First Presbyterian Church of Bend, where Moon served as an elder for the last two years. "What I will miss most about Keith is his heart, he had a heart and a passion for life, and living life to the fullest," Rev. Koski says.

On Wednesday afternoon Moon collided with the passenger side rear corner of a 2001 GMC Yukon driven by 49-year-old Lauren Stoery of Sisters. Police say Stoery made a left hand turn in front of Moon, who was in the bike lane, on Southeast Second Street. They do not believe speed was a factor. It's up to the District Attorney whether charges will be filed.

Moon was a skilled woods craftsman and ran a custom cabinets and furniture design company called Moon Woodworking in Bend. Originally starting in the San Francisco Bay area, Moon moved his business and family to Bend in 1994. Many co-workers say he was a great boss and are devastated over the loss. Friends say he was a very upbeat compassionate person, and a dedicated individual. They say he loved biking, hiking and the great outdoors and he was also a rafting guide. They also say he was deeply religious. Spencer Schock also served as an elder with Moon. "His relations with people through out town was consistant, whether it was church or business or family, or other activities, as just a great guy and a contributor," Said Schock.

Moon played the trombone and sometimes performed with a quartet in church during Sunday service. "He would often say to me that he would experience God mostly through music and through some adventure in the outdoors," said Koski.

Moon is survived by his wife, two sons and his mother.
