Do you think the three big auto makers should receive a federal bailout?
The Senate's top Democrat has called off a planned vote this week on a $25-billion auto industry bailout.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he wanted to figure out some way to help Detroit's struggling Big Three but that efforts to do so had stalled.
The White House and congressional Republicans rejected Democrats' plan to dip into the $700-billion Wall Street rescue fund to finance loans to U.S. automakers.
A bipartisan group from auto industry states is working to cut a deal on a scaled-down aid package. Reid says if agreement can be reached, the Senate could still vote on it as part of a measure to extend jobless benefits.

We heard on CNN tonight that GM is building a 6 billion dollar plant in Mexico so that they can use cheap labor and outsource. And if we bail them out, where will that money go? I doubt if it will keep American's in a job. Funny how Toyota, Suburu, Honda etc are all doing fine. Maybe the Big 3 need to learn from these guys! They must think the American people are suckers....again.
Toyota is For The Win
Toyota and other foreign automakers are doing fine because they make smaller more fuel-efficient vehicles. Also, they don't pay their employees decent health insurance and all that good stuff. I am 100% against any kind of government bailout. The fact that these CEOs have private jets and are begging for money just boils my blood. I am disgusted at people who bought and drive big American SUVS. I drive a small toyota camry because I have a HUGE ENORMOUS GIGANTIC ... love for toyota cars... yeah.
First and foremost our
First and foremost our country was founded on the principles of capitalism, not socialism.Secondly, there is no way the bailout will help with a cash drain that they all currently have. They must enter into bankruptcy and renegotiate all contracts and obligations. The airline industry had to do it, so must the auto.
Lastly, the UAW must cooperate or die. The reason that Toyota, Honda can build a better quality, lower cost vehicle is that the man hour to create a vehicle is $30.00 lower then the big three. Couple that with knowing you will lose your job for poor performance ie: quality, at the imports, it's no wonder that the big three are suffering the way they are. Oh, do you not think that the executives at Honda and Toyota fly in private jets?
Are you being snippy?
Yes, they fly in private jets but they don't beg the government for money.
Auto maker bailout...?
I want a economic bailout for my wallet.
