EUGENE, Ore. --- Oregon Head Coach Chip Kelly reinstated LeGarrette Blount Monday to the Ducks football team.
Blount had been suspended after punching a Boise St. player and trying to go after heckling fans after the Ducks first game at Boise St. September 3rd.
Kelly said Monday Blount reached "behavioral and academic ladders" in order to be reinstated. He would not go into the specifics of those requirements, saying the process was a matter of student record and is a private issue.
As for Blount's current status on the team, Coach Kelly said he is 5th string and has no chance of starting against Arizona St. Saturday. Kelly said multiple times redshirt freshman LaMichael James is still his starting running back. James became the first freshman in Oregon football history to reach 1,000 yards rushing this past Saturday in the Ducks loss to Stanford.
Running Backs Coach Gary Campbell and starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli also said Blount is not back in football shape yet, but if anyone can do it, Blount can.
