
What is StormFEST?
It's a free public event that features meteorologists from the National Weather Service and a Climatologist from Oregon State University. The topic for this year will be "Microclimates of Central Oregon". You can also get your winter storm spotter training out of the way at this year's StormFEST!
When is it?
Saturday October 3rd 10:00AM - Noon.
Where is it?
COCC Campus in the Boyle Building Room 155.
Who will be speaking?
Jon Mittelstadt: Jon has worked as a researcher and forecaster at the National Weather Service forecast office in Pendleton, Oregon for 10 years. Jon received a Bachelor's degree in math in 1991 and a PhD in meteorology in 1995, both from the University of Utah. Jon and his wife have two boys ages 11 and 5. His family enjoys sports, travel, camping and visits to the Oregon coast. They have been to the Oregon coast 14 times in the 10 years they have lived in Pendleton.
Dennis Hull: Dennis is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service Office in Pendleton, OR. He speaks to students, weather spotters, media, emergency management, and other customers about severe weather safety and how to obtain weather information. He also works the forecast desk occasionally and issues warnings and advisories for hazardous weather. After being raised on a Montana ranch, he worked at National Weather Service offices in Mississippi, Utah, and Kansas before coming to Pendleton 11 years ago. He has a wife and 4 children, 3 grown and the youngest a 7th grader, who loves soccer, basketball, and golf. He enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and working on projects with the Knights of Columbus.
Kathy Dello: Kathy is a Faculty Research Assistant with the Oregon Climate Service and the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute at Oregon State University. Prior to that, she spent five years in the Division of Water at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation working on water quality and climate change issues. She has an MA in Geography and a BS in Atmospheric Science, both from the University at Albany (SUNY).

Anyone! As long as you have an interest in meteorology you are welcome to sign up. It's FREE!
